MAP Group once again recognised as a Great Place to Work and breaks new ground in the construction sector with pioneering wellbeing policies

MAP Group has once again been awarded the prestigious Great Place to Work® certification — this time as a business group, representing the six companies that make up the MAP universe. This recognition not only reinforces the group’s consistent internal commitment to valuing people but also underlines its ambition to fundamentally transform the way work is done in Portugal’s construction and real estate sectors.

This accolade follows the first certification achieved by MAP Engenharia e Construção in 2024 and reflects a continuous and intentional effort led by the group’s People & Culture leadership. One year on, and far from resting on its laurels after the initial recognition, the HR structure has stepped up its efforts, introducing concrete and innovative measures that are already having a real impact on the lives of everyone within the MAP Group.

“This isn’t a trophy to put on a shelf. It’s about active listening, consistent action, and testing more human, more balanced and smarter ways of working — even in a sector like construction, where for decades people believed that was impossible,” says Cláudia Marques Rosado, People Director at MAP Group.

Among the most recent policies underpinning this recognition are: granting employees an extra day of leave on their birthday, giving them the time, autonomy and personal freedom to celebrate; the introduction of one remote working day per week for headquarters-based teams, aligning with current trends around workplace flexibility and work–life balance; and the launch of an internal referral bonus scheme, complementing the existing annual performance reward, and fostering a culture of active recommendation, trust and belonging.

These initiatives are part of a broader talent development plan focused on proximity, personalised workplace relationships and ongoing recognition, all without compromising on performance or business ambition.

“It’s not common to see this kind of approach in the construction sector. But that’s exactly what drives us — to challenge the status quo, attract top-tier talent and prove that it’s possible to build with excellence without sacrificing the quality of life of those doing the building,” adds Cláudia Marques Rosado.

This latest Great Place to Work® recognition reflects not only a solid organisational culture but also a firm and ongoing commitment to continuous improvement — at a time when employer branding has moved from being a competitive advantage to becoming a strategic imperative.
