MAP Engenharia e Construção is building a new, five-star, luxury resort at Meia Praia in Lagos. This large-scale tourism project strengthens the company’s presence in the Algarve, while also consolidating its expertise in delivering high-standard hotel developments.
Diogo Abecasis, Co-CEO of the MAP Group, shares his strategic vision for this project and the growth of the group’s activities in the region in a video interview conducted by Vida Imobiliária.
The project was awarded to a consortium of developers led by Sonae Sierra and including PGIM Real Estate, a US-based multinational property investment firm, and IHSP Hospitality. The total investment amounts to over €60 million.
A new destination on the Algarve coast
Located in one of the most sought-after areas of Portugal’s southern coast, the development in Meia Praia, Lagos, will comprise around 160 accommodation units, including rooms, suites, and tourist apartments.
The resort will also feature a full range of amenities typically found in a five-star hotel, including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a spa, and extensive leisure areas. This will offer tourists a distinctive experience in one of the country’s most popular regions.
The project has been designed to blend harmoniously into the surrounding natural landscape. Extending along the hillside, the development comprises low-rise buildings with green roofs, creating a balanced relationship between architecture, nature and the local environment.
The gross floor area will be around 20,000 m², complemented by approximately 22,000 m² of outdoor spaces, which reinforce the concept of landscape integration and environmental quality.
