On the topic of sustainability’s importance to businesses and to the construction and real estate sectors, Vida Imobiliária interviewed MAP Group, represented by Ana Estrócio, Director of Quality, Safety and Environment, and Nuno Botelho, Purchasing Director.
Firm in the belief that “innovation is one of the fundamental pillars of sustainability,” MAP Group aims to make a difference in the Portuguese market.
In this interview with Vida Imobiliária, MAP Group reinforces its role as an “influencer” of sustainable practices in construction and real estate, now adopting ESG as a strategic cornerstone.
More than just a pillar of its management policy, “sustainability is now embedded in MAP Group’s very culture,” states Ana Estrócio, the group’s Director of Quality, Safety and Environment. Committed to the sustainable development of the sector, MAP Group has been integrating both environmental and social concerns into its management strategy.
Internally, the company has invested in certifications related to safety, environment, and quality; in innovation and training, with a strong focus on BIM technology; and in fostering closer relationships and greater satisfaction among its human resources. Alongside these measures—particularly its technological advancements—one of the next major steps will be the preparation and launch of its first sustainability report, which will outline the group’s plans and progress in this field.
Leading by example in applying technology to support the sustainable transition of the construction and real estate sectors, MAP Group has, in recent years, heavily invested in BIM resources and in training its teams in this tool. This, according to Estrócio, is seen both as “a point of pride and a challenge.” “It’s a point of pride because we’re fully prepared to implement it—so much so that we’re about to begin a new project that, fortunately, will be entirely developed using BIM. But it’s also a major challenge because to truly make the most of this technology, and for it to be highly effective, all stakeholders need to be aligned and using it—and, as builders, we often can’t demand that from third-party projects.”
